Donald Trump Talks With Xi Jinping: America's newly elected President Donald Trump has spoken to Chinese President Xi Jinping over the phone before his swearing-in ceremony. The phone conversation between the two leaders took place at a time when Trump's swearing-in ceremony is to take place on January 20. Donald Trump had once described China as the biggest enemy. Apart from this, he had also made many serious allegations against Beijing regarding trade.

What did Donald Trump say?

After the phone conversation, Trump told on his social media platform that he has discussed many important issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This included issues like trade, fentanyl (drug) and TikTok. He said, this conversation was very good for China and America. I hope that we will solve many problems together and it will start soon. We discussed trade, fentanyl, TikTok and many other issues. He further said, President Xi and I will try our best to make the world more peaceful and safe. 

Xi will not attend Trump's swearing-in ceremony

This conversation took place when the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Xi Jinping will not attend Trump's swearing-in ceremony. Instead, Vice President Han Zheng will attend the ceremony as Xi's special representative. Earlier, on January 6, Trump had said that he and Xi Jinping have been in touch through representatives and are optimistic about the relations between the two countries.

It is worth noting that in Trump's second term, tensions may be seen in US-China relations over issues like trade, technology and Taiwan. Trump had threatened to impose 60 percent duty on all goods imported from China. However, he praised relations with Xi and said that China can help resolve international crises like the Ukraine war.
