Irfan became an actor from a cricketer
Irfan was born in a Muslim Pathan family in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 7 January 1967. He wanted to become a cricketer, not an actor. Irfan Khan revealed this in an interview given to Pinkvilla, ‘There was a time when I used to play cricket. I was selected for the CK Nayudu tournament. 26 of my friends were selected in that who had to go to a camp, but I could not go due to lack of money and then I decided to quit cricket.’
Not just TV or Bollywood, he made his mark in Hollywood as well
He proved his acting prowess in films like 'The Warrior', 'Maqbool', 'Haasil', 'The Namesake', 'Rog'. He was also famous worldwide for Hollywood films like 'A Mighty Heart', 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'Life of Pi' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. He also worked in the TV industry. He had acted in more than 30 films of Hindi cinema. Not only this, in 2011 he was honored with Padma Shri by the Government of India. In the 60th National Film Awards 2012, Irrfan Khan was given the Best Actor Award for his performance in the film 'Paan Singh Tomar'. He was selected as the Filmfare Best Actor for the film 'Hindi Medium' released in 2017. 'Angrezi Medium' released in 2020 was his last released film.
The actor had predicted his death
Irrfan Khan's wife Sutapa had said that this is a pain that is not easy to forget. She said, 'We are trying to stay positive. It will be a year, I am still not able to meet and talk to people. I am better at writing than meeting people.' She further said, 'Two-three days before his death, I was in the hospital and in his last moments, he said, I am going to die, I told him this will not happen, he smiled again and slept.'
