Business: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, October 5, gave the gift of Navratri to crores of farmers of the country and released the 18th installment of Kisan Samman Nidhi. PM Modi, who went on a Maharashtra tour, transferred Rs 20 thousand crore to about 9.4 crore farmers. Rs 2000 was transferred to the accounts of all these farmers. Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, a total of Rs 3.45 lakh crore has been sent to the farmers by the central government so far.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was started in February 2019
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was launched on 24 February 2019. In this, Rs 6,000 is transferred annually to farmers in 3 equal installments. This money goes to the farmers' account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). In Maharashtra, about 1.20 crore farmers have been given about Rs 32,000 crore in 17 installments of this scheme. It comes second in India. In the 18th installment of Samman Nidhi, about 91.51 lakh farmers of the state will get a benefit of more than Rs 1,900 crore. Apart from this, PM Modi also gave an additional benefit of about Rs 2,000 crore to the farmers of Maharashtra under the 5th installment of Namo Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi Yojana.
2.5 crore farmers attended the program through webcast
On this occasion, Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde , Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis were among the dignitaries present. About 2.5 crore farmers, including 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, more than 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and 5 lakh Common Service Centres across the country, participated in this program through webcast.
