The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for the facility of updating Aadhaar for free. On Saturday, UIDAI shared a post on the social media platform X giving information about this. In such a situation, users will continue to get the service of updating Aadhaar for free in future as well.

Deadline extended to December 14, 2024

UIDAI has informed on Saturday that the deadline for free Aadhaar update ending on September 14, 2024 has now been extended by 3 months. In such a situation, you can avail this service till December 14, 2024. UIDAI had advised all Aadhaar card holders to update all the information in their Aadhaar cards made 10 years or older. For this, the organization had started the facility of free Aadhaar update, the deadline of which has been extended several times before. UIDAI has shared the information about extending the deadline for updating Aadhaar for free on social media platform X. Users have been told that they can now avail this facility till December 14 instead of September 14.

Facility will be available only on online update

It is worth noting that UIDAI has informed the users that the facility of updating Aadhaar for free is available only through online medium. In such a situation, you can update Aadhaar for free through My Aadhaar portal or UIDAI's official website. However, you will not get the facility of free Aadhaar if you update Aadhaar at the Aadhaar center. Please note that you must go to the Aadhaar center to update iris and biometric details.

1. To update Aadhaar for free, first visit UIDAI's website https://uidai.gov.in/.
2. Go to the My Aadhaar portal on the homepage and login by entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
3. Check your details and if all the details are correct, tick the box next to it.
4. If your demographic information is incorrect, go to the drop-down menu and select your identity documents.
5. After this, upload the required documents.
6. After uploading the requested documents, this process will be completed.
7. In the end, you will get a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN), through which you can track the process of updating Aadhaar.
