Online sales can increase so much

A recent report by market research firm Datum Intelligence suggests that this year's festive season sales of e-commerce companies could reach $12 billion. Last year, goods worth about $9.7 billion were sold online during the festive season. The research firm believes that this time the festive season sales will increase by 23 percent.

Quick Commerce sales expected to go here

According to the report, the fast-growing quick commerce segment is going to contribute significantly to the total sales of e-commerce companies. The quick commerce segment can contribute around $1 billion to sales during the festive season.

Datum Intelligence has used GMV or Gross Merchandise Value for sales figures in its report. GMV includes the combined sales of various goods by e-commerce platforms, but discounts and returns are not adjusted in it.

The highest sales are expected

According to the report, categories like mobile and fashion are going to contribute the most to online sales during the festive season. Their contribution to total sales can be as high as 50 percent. The share of Quick Commerce is increasing rapidly in grocery sales. The report expects that the contribution of Quick Commerce in online grocery sales during the festive season can reach 50 percent, which was 37.6 percent last year.

Festive season sale from 27 September

In fact, every year during the festive months, sales in various sectors in India increase. During festivals, people shop a lot from grocery to clothes and from smartphones and other household appliances to cars and bikes. Keeping the festive season in mind, e-commerce companies also organize special sales. This time the festive season sale of Amazon and Flipkart is starting from 27 September.
