IPS Alok Raj is now handling the responsibility of the police system of Bihar, one of the most talked about states of the country. He became an IPS in the year 1989. After becoming an officer, his first posting was as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Patna City. During this time, IPS Alok Raj was awarded the Police Gallantry Medal for killing four dangerous criminals in an encounter with them.

Alok Raj, a resident of Muzaffarpur, has achieved unique achievements in his life. He won a gold medal while studying MSc in Geology from Patna University. He was awarded the President's Medal three times for his excellent police career. Alok Raj was awarded the Police Gallantry Medal in the year 1994, the Commendable Service Medal in the year 2008 and the Distinguished Service Medal in the year 2016. His extraordinary contribution has included him in the category of prestigious police officers of the country.
