The film Major Saab was released in the year 1998. Amitabh and Ajay played important roles in the film. The production of the film was handled by Amitabh Bachchan's company. Then Abhishek worked as a spotboy and assistant director for his father's film. When Ajay reached Australia, Abhishek was responsible for looking after him.

After Ajay reached Australia, Abhishek brought him to the hotel. Ajay had mentioned this incident in the TV show 'Yaaron Ki Baraat'. Then Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan also came to the show with him. Ajay had said, 'When Abhishek brought me to the hotel, it was afternoon time. Kajol and I reached the room and after keeping the luggage, I came down with Abhishek. Here I told Abhishek that I am drinking, will he have a drink. To this Abhishek said- 'No Sir'. Ajay Devgan further said, 'In the evening, I asked for my drink again and I asked Abhishek if he would like to have beer, then Abhishek again said no sir I don't drink. But when I asked Abhishek for a drink again the next day in the evening, Abhishek said, 'If you don't tell Papa, then I will drink.' After this, Abhishek looked straight at the waiter and ordered vodka for himself.'
