National: The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) division under the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a public advisory against fraudulent emails and documents being circulated in the name of its officials.
This advisory has been issued following receipt of several complaints wherein fraudsters posing as officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs had demanded money from associations or NGOs for availing FCRA services.
'Do not respond to requests for personal information or payments'
A copy of the advisory accessed by news agency ANI reads, "There have been cases where fraudulent emails/communications containing fake documents are being circulated using fake logos, fake official email addresses, names of officials of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, asking individuals/associations/NGOs to make payments for availing FCRA services. The general public is informed that such fake emails/letters requesting personal information or payments should not be responded to."

It further reads that all concerned are informed that any services under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA, 2010) such as registration, renewal, prior permission, change of details, amendment etc. can be availed only by applying through the online FCRA portal " ". If required, payment for such application or for availing any FCRA service is also to be made only on the online FCRA portal through online payment gateway.
