Business News : Mahindra Group-owned iconic motorcycle brand BSA made its India debut on Thursday with the launch of the 652 cc Gold Star 650 model priced at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA), one of the oldest motorcycle companies in the world, was acquired by Mahindra Group's premium motorcycle arm, Classic Legends, in 2016. Classic Legends sells Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles in the country.

The BSA Gold Star 650 came back in the UK in 2021 and is currently being sold in Europe, Turkey, New Zealand, and the Philippines. Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said on the occasion, "Bringing BSA to India is like sharing a part of world motorcycling history with India. The indomitable spirit of BSA, a brand built in the fire of war, is embodied in the new Gold Star." The company said that the BSA brand will soon enter the US, Australia and Japan markets as well.
What are the features?
The company has given a 4-valve, DOHC single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine of 652 cc capacity in the bike. It generates 45bhp power and 55Nm torque. It has a 5-speed gearbox. This bike can run at a speed of 160 km/h. The bike has telescopic fork suspension in the front and twin shock observer in the rear. This bike is available for sale at the company's authorized dealership and its booking has started. This bike, which comes with a retro-modern design, competes directly with Royal Enfield's Shotgun, whose price starts at Rs 3.59 lakh.
