Not only this, NSE said that the total number of client codes (accounts) registered with the exchange is 19 crore (clients can register with more than one trading member).
In a digital India, the number of investors has more than tripled in the last 5 years due to easy investment in the stock market, increased investor awareness, financial inclusion and market performance. In the last few years, there has been a tremendous increase in the registration of investors on NSE.
It took 25 years to have 4 crore investors
The exchange said that it took more than 25 years for the number of registered investors to reach 4 crore in March 2021. After this, the increase of investors by one crore (from Rs 4 crore to Rs 10 crore) has happened on an average in 6-7 months.
The youth of the country are showing interest in the stock market
It took only 5 months for NSE to add its last 1 crore investors. According to the information provided by NSE, the average age of investors among the 10 crore registered investors is 32 years, whereas 5 years ago it was 38 years.
