The first big success of career came in the year 2013
Vinesh Phogat comes from a family that has contributed a lot to wrestling, due to which she has developed a passion for this sport since childhood. Vinesh got her initial training in wrestling from her uncle Mahavir Singh Phogat. After this, Vinesh won a silver medal in the Youth Wrestling Championship in 2013. From here her career took a different flight and in the Asian Wrestling Championship held in Delhi this year, Vinesh won the bronze medal in the 51 kg category.
From here, Vinesh did not look back and succeeded in winning bronze medal in Asian Games 2014 and gold medal in Commonwealth Games. Even though Vinesh has announced her retirement from wrestling, she has won many medals in her career. She has 3 gold medals in Commonwealth Games and 1 gold medal each in Asian Games and Asian Championship.
Vinesh has also received the Arjuna Award and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna
While Vinesh Phogat was given the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in the year 2016 for her outstanding contribution in sports, in the year 2020 she also received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, which is also the highest sporting honor of the country.
