National: Hearing the petition of an 80-year-old woman, the Delhi High Court on Saturday gave a decision that teaches a lesson to her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. This decision of the court has a big message about the social fabric. The court said in its decision that senior citizens have not only a constitutional but also a moral right to live in an environment of respect, security, peace and without neglect.

If the children are unable to take care of these aspects related to their elderly parents, then they should vacate the house with immediate effect, in which they have been living together till now and which is still owned by their parents. The  woman had made serious allegations against her son and daughter-in-  law

The Delhi High Court gave this order after hearing the petition of an elderly woman from the national capital. In this case, the 80-year-old woman alleged in the court that her son and daughter-in-law harass their old mother in greed for property. Instead of serving their old mother, they tortured her. Whereas children are the support of their parents in old age.

The victim woman told the court that in their greed for property, the son and daughter-in-law crossed all limits. The mother told the Delhi High Court that there is constant tension in the house due to marital discord between the two.

The victim cited these rules

The 80-year-old woman, referring to the rules of the 'Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act', said that the property is in her name. Only I have the right over it. Neither my son nor my daughter-in-law served me or my husband. They still trouble us.

What did the court say?

After this, Delhi High Court judge Sanjeev Narula said, 'This is a case that highlights a recurring social issue and the fabric of family relationships. Marital discord not only spoils the life of the couple, but also affects the elderly citizens of the family a lot.'

Seeing the trouble faced by the 80-year-old victim, the court asked her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren to vacate the house so that the victim can live the rest of her life in peace.
