Seoul: North Korea has been constantly trying to trouble South Korea. Whether it is the incident of dropping balloons filled with garbage or North Korean soldiers crossing the border and entering South Korea, overall, tension between North Korea and South Korea remains constant. In such a situation, South Korea is also taking steps to deal with the possible threats from North Korea.  

 US and South Korea joint military exercise to begin

In the same sequence, South Korea and the US will begin their annual joint military exercise next week, focusing on improving joint capabilities to deal with North Korea's growing nuclear threats. Information about this has been given by both the countries. South Korean and US military officials said that the 'Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise to be held from 19 to 29 August this year will include exercises to strengthen preparedness against threats such as missiles, GPS jamming and cyber attacks. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that the allies' aim is specifically to "prevent the development of weapons of mass destruction and further strengthen their ability to deal with their threat." This exercise may draw an aggressive response from North Korea, which sees them as preparation for an attack. 

South Korea and the US Army

The alliance between America and South Korea has increased.

It should also be noted here that earlier, the US and South Korea had signed a joint nuclear deterrence guideline. Given the growing nuclear threat from North Korea, it was described as a fundamental step to strengthen deterrence further. US President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yun Suk Yeol described it as 'tremendous progress'. It is also important to know here that South Korea does not have any nuclear weapons. (AP)
