Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has described Virat Kohli as the greatest limited format player. Kohli scored a century in the second innings of the opening Perth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but after that could score only 85 runs in the next seven innings. India lost the series 1-3 in Australia due to the poor performance of senior players like Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma.

"Cricketers like Virat Kohli are rarely born. Scoring 81 international centuries in his career is unbelievable. For me, he is probably the greatest white-ball player in the world," Ganguly said during a felicitation ceremony organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for the state's players.

The bat did not work against Australia

On Kohli's struggle after the century in Perth, Ganguly said that he was also surprised that he could not score a century in the remaining matches of the series. Ganguly said that he was really surprised how he batted after scoring a century in Perth. He had struggled before this, but after scoring a century in Perth, he felt that this would be a big series for him.

He said that but he feels that this happens. Every player has his own weakness and strength. You know that there is no player in the world with whom this will not happen. It depends on how you adjust to your weaknesses while playing against great bowlers over time.

King Kohli will return to form

Ganguly expressed confidence and said that he will return to his best form in the three-match ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy that follows. He said that he will score runs in this tournament in Indian conditions and he still feels that Virat Kohli has a lot of cricket left in him, the tour of England will be a big challenge for him. I am not very worried about his form in the Champions Trophy because he is probably the best player in the world in white ball cricket.
