Maharashtra team registered a huge win by defeating Baroda team by 439 runs. Baroda had a seemingly impossible target of 617 runs to win and on the last day of the match, its effort was to avoid being all out and get one point. However, the team failed miserably in this attempt and was all out for 177 runs in 36 overs. Baroda's defeat has revived the hopes of defending champions Mumbai to qualify for the knock-out stage of the Ranji Trophy. Mukesh Choudhary and Rajneesh Gurbani displayed lethal bowling for Maharashtra.

He took five wickets for 76 runs while Gurbani, who left Vidarbha team and joined Maharashtra team, took three wickets for 54 runs. Mukesh took 3 wickets in the first innings and five wickets in the second innings. In this way, he played an important role in the team's victory by taking 8 wickets in the match.

After this, Maharashtra team declared the innings after scoring 464 runs in the second innings. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 89 runs and Saurabh Navale scored 126 runs for the team.
