Maharashtra team registered a huge win by defeating Baroda team by 439 runs. Baroda had a seemingly impossible target of 617 runs to win and on the last day of the match, its effort was to avoid being all out and get one point. However, the team failed miserably in this attempt and was all out for 177 runs in 36 overs. Baroda's defeat has revived the hopes of defending champions Mumbai to qualify for the knock-out stage of the Ranji Trophy. Mukesh Choudhary and Rajneesh Gurbani displayed lethal bowling for Maharashtra.

Mukesh Chaudhary, who played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL, performed brilliantly. He took five wickets for 76 runs while Gurbani, who left Vidarbha team and joined Maharashtra team, took three wickets for 54 runs.
