The Delhi High Court has given a direction to the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU) regarding the CLAT 2025 result. According to a report by Live Law, the Delhi High Court has said that the law does not appreciate a complete 'hands off' approach of the courts where the answer key is clearly incorrect, insisting that the injustice done to the candidate must be remedied. Judge Jyoti Singh said that there is no absolute bar against the court from examining a case challenging the answer key in an examination process, even if there is an expert opinion before the court.
"The law, therefore, does not appreciate a completely 'hands-off' approach and in exceptional cases where questions are found to be patently erroneous, the resulting injustice to the candidate must be redressed and eliminated," the court said.
The court clearly found error in two questions
Judge Jyoti Singh partially allowed a petition seeking quashing of the final answer key published for the CLAT-UG 2025 exam held on December 01. The petition was filed by a candidate who had appeared in the exam and had specifically challenged the answers to five questions. The court found clear errors in two questions and said that turning a blind eye to it would be unfair to the petitioner and may affect the results of other candidates.
"Accordingly, it is directed that the result of the petitioner shall be revised to award marks as per the marking scheme for question no. 14. Since this Court has upheld option 'C' as the correct answer, which was also the view of the Expert Committee, the benefit cannot be limited to the petitioner alone and it will be available to all the candidates who have opted for option 'C'," the court said.
It said: "Question No. 100 shall be excluded as per the correct advice by the Expert Committee and the result shall be revised accordingly." The Consortium of NLUs opposed the plea, saying that an Expert Committee was constituted by the Consortium which had duly considered all the objections received from various candidates before finalising the answer key.
Let us inform you that the Consortium had said that it had followed a rigorous internal process before finalizing and publishing the final answer key on December 07 and such process gave ample opportunity to all the candidates i
