Taking a big decision, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has banned 3 universities of Rajasthan from enrolling in PhD programs for the next 5 years. This means that now no one can do PhD from these three universities for the next 5 years. The names of these three universities are OPJS University, Sunrise University and Singhania University. This decision has been taken because UGC found that all these universities were not following the rules of PhD.

According to the official information given by UGC, the commission had formed a permanent committee. The commission will see whether the universities are following all the rules or not. Apart from this, whether they are giving PhD degree as per UGC rules or not. After analyzing, investigating and evaluating the information and data provided by the university, the commission noticed that these three universities are not following the provisions of UGC PhD rules and the academic criteria for granting PhD degree.

The answers were not satisfactory- Commission

The commission had also given these universities an opportunity to explain the reason behind this. They were asked why they failed to comply with the provisions of the PhD regulations. After this, the answers received from these three universities were not found satisfactory by the commission. After this, the commission has taken this decision and banned them from enrolling PhD students for the next 5 years.

What did the official notice say?

Taking into account the recommendations given by the Standing Committee, it has been decided to prohibit the three universities from enrolling scholars under the PhD programme for the next five years i.e. from the academic year 2025-26 to 2029-30. These universities have been informed about this decision and have been directed to immediately stop enrolling PhD scholars.
