National News : Politics has heated up in Kerala over the private meeting between Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M R Ajith Kumar and a top RSS leader. Now a statement has come from ADGP Ajith Kumar regarding this meeting. Ajith Kumar said that there was nothing unusual in the meeting between him and the RSS leader. Jayakumar, who accompanied Ajith Kumar in meetings with several top RSS leaders including Dattatreya Hosabale and Ram Madhav, said that several IAS (Indian Administrative Service) and IPS (Indian Police Service) officers, including chief secretaries, have had private meetings with the RSS leadership. Ajith Kumar's meeting with RSS leaders has created controversy in Kerala politics.
Explanation sought from CMO
The ruling party's ally CPI and the opposition Congress have reacted sharply to these meetings. According to media reports, Ajit Kumar, who was close to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, had given an explanation to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) regarding these meetings. In which he had accepted meeting RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale in Thrissur last May and clarified that it was a private meeting.
RSS leader Jayakumar wrote a post on Facebook
However, after the controversy surfaced, the DGP started investigating the matter and recorded the statement of Ajit Kumar, in-charge of law and order, regarding his private meetings. RSS leader Jayakumar wrote in a post on Facebook on Sunday that he came to know from TV channels that the DGP office has issued him a notice in connection with the ongoing investigation of the alleged meetings. He said that he has met many personalities in connection with his work related to RSS.
Jayakumar said, this is not the first time that an ADGP has met an RSS leader. Several IPS and IAS officers, including chief secretaries, have had private meetings with the RSS leadership. He said that as the RSS Sampark Pramukh, he will continue to meet prominent personalities. Jayakumar also posted a photo of former President APJ Abdul Kalam offering flowers at the statue of RSS founder Keshav Rao Baliram Hedgewar.
