New Delhi. Infosys founder Narayan Murthy often remains in focus regarding work culture. In fact, he talks about working 70 hours a week. Recently, he reiterated the point of '70 hours work' at the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata. However, many people have objected to Narayan Murthy's comment.
Comparison with China's economy
Narayan Murthy compared India's work culture with China. He said that Chinese citizens are 3.5 times more productive than Indians. Talking about India's poverty level, he said that we have to keep our aspirations high. In India, 80 crore citizens get free ration. This means that 80 crore Indians are below the poverty line. In such a situation, we will have to work hard for the development of the country. If we do not work hard then who will? He says that unless Indian employees are dedicated to their work, the risk of poverty and underdevelopment in the country will remain.
Law regarding work culture implemented in China
There are rules for work in China. According to the rules, the employee has to work 40 hours a week. Despite this law, employees work 72 hours a week. In fact, many companies have implemented the 996 work system. According to this system, the employee has to work 6 days a week. A survey conducted by People's Daily in China revealed that 98.8 percent of tech companies' employees have health problems.
Decide your work-life balance
Narayan Murthy has faced criticism after his statement on work culture. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi criticized him and said that if an employee works for 70 hours, he will not have time for family, friends and home. At the same time, Executive Chairman of IT sector's big company Wipro, Rishad Premji said that employees should set the boundaries between their work and life themselves, unlike the work system.
