New Delhi: Winter has intensified in the new year. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and some parts of Uttar Pradesh will experience severe cold. Temperatures in these states may drop in the next 24 hours. This means that cold day conditions will prevail here for the next two days.

Cold has also intensified in Rajasthan, disrupting daily life. According to the IMD, the temperature in Jaipur was recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius at 8:30 am on Wednesday, while Bikaner and Churu recorded temperatures of 7 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius respectively. Severe cold continues in Jammu and Kashmir and the temperature has dropped below zero in many areas. The surface of Dal Lake froze due to the cold. According to the IMD report, at 8:30 am on Wednesday, Srinagar recorded -1.5°C, Gulmarg -2.4°C, Pahalgam -6°C, Banihal 0.4°C and Kupwara 0.4°C.

Dense fog warning

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is likely to prevail in different areas of Punjab during late night and early morning. Along with this, dense fog may occur in Haryana-Chandigarh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Sikkim till January 3. A warning has been issued for dense fog in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till January 6.

How will the weather be in Delhi

The national capital Delhi is also experiencing severe cold. Winds are blowing at a speed of 14 to 18 kilometers per hour in Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department says that the wind speed will gradually decrease to less than eight kilometers per hour by evening. There is a possibility of mist or light fog during the evening and night. The maximum temperature can be recorded around 18 and the minimum temperature around 9 degrees Celsius.

 According to the weather department, Himachal Pradesh may receive fresh snowfall and rain in hilly areas on Thursday. The forecast has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches of the state from January 4 to 7, with heavy rain likely on January 5 and 6. Popular tourist destinations like Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie may receive rain.
