If you want to get your children admitted to a private school in Delhi and you belong to the EWS category, then this news is useful for you. The Directorate of Education of Delhi has issued some guidelines related to admission for the candidates of EWS category, by following which you can get your children admitted to a good school. Online registration for entry level classes in private schools of Delhi under the categories of EWS category, disadvantaged groups and children with special needs will start from February 2.
In a circular issued, the Delhi Directorate of Education has prepared guidelines for the admission process for nursery, kindergarten and class 1 under EWS/disadvantaged groups (DG) and CWSN (children with special needs) in private unaided recognised schools in the city.
What is the guideline?
- The Directorate of Education said that the online application process will begin from February 3 and the last date for submission of applications is February 19. The first round of computerised draw for selected students will be announced on March 3.
- The guidelines said, the age limit for admission for students under EWS and DG categories as on March 31 is three to five years for nursery, four to six years for KG and five to seven years for Class 1.
- It further said that the age limit for CWSN (children with special needs) is more flexible, under which children aged three to seven years can apply for nursery, four to eight years for KG and five to nine years for Class 1.
- According to the guidelines of the Education Department, the EWS category applies to children of families whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh and who have an income certificate from the Revenue Department of Delhi.
- "Families living below the poverty line or holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards are also eligible for admission under these categories," it said.
- It further said that the DG category includes SC, ST, OBC, orphans, transgender children and children affected by HIV.
- In addition, children with disabilities must show a disability certificate issued by the government. Income certificates are not required for them, the DoE said.
