New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a New Year gift to thousands of Delhiites on Friday. At around 12:10 pm, the PM will visit the newly constructed flats for slum dwellers under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, Delhi. After this, at around 12:45 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Delhi. PM Modi will inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats for slum dwellers at Ashok Vihar in Delhi and will also hand over the keys of Swabhiman Apartments to eligible beneficiaries.

The cost of a flat is Rs 25 lakh

Let us tell you that the inauguration of the newly constructed flats will mark the completion of the second successful in-situ slum rehabilitation project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The aim of this project is to provide a better and healthy environment equipped with proper amenities to the residents of slums in Delhi. For every Rs 25 lakh spent by the government on the construction of the flat, eligible beneficiaries pay less than 7 percent of the total amount, which includes a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for 5 years of maintenance. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects, the World Trade Center (WTC) in Naoroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Housing (GPRA) Type-II Quarters in Sarojini Nagar.

Know what is special in Naoroji Nagar project

Let us tell you that the World Trade Center in Naoroji Nagar has transformed the area by replacing more than 600 dilapidated quarters with state-of-the-art commercial towers. This has provided about 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space with advanced facilities. The project incorporates green building practices, including provisions such as zero-discharge concept, solar power generation and rainwater harvesting system. The GPRA Type-II quarters in Sarojini Nagar include 28 towers with more than 2500 residential units with modern facilities and well-utilized space.

Modi will lay the foundation stone of Veer Savarkar College

PM Modi will inaugurate a new office complex of CBSE in Dwarka, Delhi, on which around Rs 300 crore has been spent. The building will have facilities such as offices, auditorium, advanced data center, and water management system. The building has been built in an environmentally friendly manner and has been designed as per the standards of Platinum rating of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Apart from this, the Prime Minister will launch 3 new projects worth more than Rs 600 crore in Delhi University. These include a new academic block in Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi, another academic block in the west campus of Dwarka, and a new building of Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh.
