The expert committee has given some suggestions to NTA regarding the NEET UG exam, due to which there was confusion whether it would be implemented or not, in such a situation, today the central government has confirmed that these suggestions will definitely be implemented. The Center itself has told this to the Supreme Court. The Center told the Supreme Court on Thursday that it will implement all the necessary suggestions given by its 7-member expert panel on exam reforms after reviewing the functioning of the National Testing Agency in conducting NEET-UG last year.
The court had on August 2 last year refused to cancel the controversy-hit NEET-UG 2024 exam, saying there was no sufficient evidence on record at present to indicate any systematic leak or malpractice that vitiated the integrity of the exam.
A 7-member committee was formed
Following this, the government had constituted a 7-member expert committee headed by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan to review the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and recommend examination reforms to make NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate) transparent and free from malpractices.
When will it be implemented?
On Thursday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, told a bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Manoj Mishra that the committee formed by the Centre has submitted its report and the government will implement all these recommendations. "We are going to implement all the recommendations and it (the case) can be listed after 6 months," Mehta said. To which the bench said, "The matter is adjourned for three months. List this special leave petition in the month of April."
It further said that the entire report was not placed on record as it also contained some details about issues like printing of questions etc.
