Business: The benchmark index of the Indian stock market, Sensex-Nifty, closed with a decline in Thursday's trading session. However, buying was seen in banking, IT and consumer durables stocks. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks rose in today's session. At the close of the market, the BSE Sensex closed with a decline of 151 points at 82,201 points, while the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed with a decline of 54 points at 25,145 points.

In today's trade, there was buying in the stocks of consumer durables, IT, banking, metals, media sector. While the stocks of auto, pharma, FMCG, energy, real estate, healthcare and oil and gas sector closed with a fall. In today's session, mid-cap and small-cap stocks were seen shining. Nifty's Midcap 100 index closed with a jump of 225 points and Nifty Small Cap 100 closed with a jump of about 200 points.

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 9 stocks closed with gains while 21 closed with losses. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 18 stocks closed with gains and 32 closed with losses. Among the gainers, Titan closed with a gain of 3.11%, ITC 0.89%, Infosys 0.49%, HCL Tech 0.33%, Tata Steel 0.30%, SBI 0.26%, HDFC Bank 0.20%, Asian Paints 0.16%, Axis Bank 0.04%, TCS 0.02%. Among the losers, Reliance closed with a loss of 1.41%, Tata Motors 1.08%, Nestle 1%, Bharti Airtel 0.96%, L&T 0.80%, Bajaj Finance 0.75%.

Despite the fall in the Indian stock market, the market cap of the stocks listed on BSE has seen a jump due to buying in mid-cap and small-cap stocks. The stocks listed on BSE closed at Rs 465.66 lakh crore, which was Rs 465.13 lakh crore in the last session. In today's session, the market cap has seen a jump of Rs 52,000 crore.
