Business: After tomatoes, to control the skyrocketing prices of onions, the government has started selling them at discounted prices. The sale of onions at discounted prices was started a day earlier on Thursday. Under this, people are getting a chance to buy onions at just Rs 35 per kg.

Discounted sales are happening at these places right now

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi started this campaign to provide relief to the common people from the increasing budget of the kitchen. The Minister of Food Distribution and Consumer Affairs, while starting the campaign, said that in the first phase, onions are being made available to the people of Delhi-NCR and Mumbai at cheap prices. Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said that in Delhi-NCR, the sale will be done at a total of 38 places including Krishi Bhawan, Indian National Cooperative Union Complex, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Patel Chowk Metro Station and some parts of Noida. In Mumbai, people will be able to buy cheap onions at places like Parel and Lower Malad.

These cities will also get benefits from next week

In the second phase, it will be started in the state capitals. The second phase will start from next week, in which cities like Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Raipur will be covered.

The campaign will start across the country in the third phase

Apart from major cities, onions will soon be made available to people of other cities as well at cheaper rates. The Union Minister said that in the third phase of the campaign, onions will be sold at cheaper rates across the country. The process of making onions available at discounted rates across the country will begin from the third week of September.

This is how cheap onions are being sold

The onions being made available at subsidized rates by the government are being sold through cooperative agencies like NAFED and NCCF. Cooperative agencies are selling onions at cheap rates through dedicated vans. The government plans to make subsidized onions available on other platforms as well.

Everyone can take advantage of this campaign

Everyone can benefit from this campaign of the government. The Union Minister clarified that there will be no need to show any identity card or card to buy cheap onions being provided by the government. There is also no limit on the quantity of subsidized onions to be purchased. That means common people will be able to buy as much onion as they want at cheap rates as per their need.
