Business: The Income Tax Department has issued notices to thousands of employees of the country's largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The Income Tax Department has demanded tax ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 1.45 lakh from TCS employees.

The company refused to pay

According to a report by ET, the largest IT company has asked thousands of employees to wait for now after receiving notices. The company has told the employees not to pay the tax demand amount for now. The company said that until it gets clarification from the Income Tax Department, the employees should not pay the demand.

30 thousand employees received notices

The report quoted people associated with the matter as saying that about 30 thousand employees of TCS have received a notice from the Income Tax Department. There has been no official response from TCS on this matter yet, but it is being said in the news that the HR department of the company has sent an internal email to all the employees regarding the notice received from the Income Tax Department.

Case related to TDS of fourth quarter

The email states that the notices sent by the Income Tax Department are related to the TDS deduction made in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2023-24. The company says that it first wants to know the reason for this dispute and wants to resolve it. Till then the company has forbidden the employees from paying tax.

Returns will be processed again

The company has told the employees in the email that it has already raised this issue before the Income Tax Authority. The company sent this email on Thursday. It is being said in the news that the next day i.e. on Friday, the company has told the employees in a separate communication that the Income Tax Department is going to re-process the returns of the concerned employees.
