Education News : The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a petition seeking the postponement of the NEET-PG exam scheduled to be held on August 11. The petition claimed that candidates have been allotted cities where it is highly inconvenient to them to reach. It was also demanded that it be dismissed. A three-judge bench of Chief Justice (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra heard the case.

'Can't put careers of 2 lakh students at risk'

During the hearing, the bench told the petitioner that he could not put the careers of 2 lakh students at risk for five students. The CJI said, "How can we postpone such an exam? Sanjay Hegde, nowadays people just ask for postponement of the exam. This is not a perfect world. We are not academic experts. The bench said, "We will not reschedule the exam. There are 2 lakh students and 4 lakh parents who will cry over the weekend if it is postponed. We cannot put the careers of so many candidates at risk. We do not know who is behind these petitions."

This is the concern of the candidates.

According to the petition, the allotment of exam centres was done on July 31 itself, and the specific centres were to be announced on August 8. This last minute information aimed at preventing cheating left the candidates with insufficient time to prepare and reach the exam centre, leading to a request to reschedule the NEET PG exam.
