Education News : A big news has come out regarding the change in the final result pattern of class 12th. According to a report by The Indian Express, an independent unit of NCERT, Performance Assessment Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development (PARAKH) has submitted a report to the Ministry of Education. The report suggests inclusion of class 9, 10 and 11 performance in the final result of class 12th. Let us inform you that PARAKH is a unit set up in NCERT last year to standardize assessment by school boards across the country.
Report sent after discussions with 32 school boards
The report said that after interacting with 32 school boards last year, PARAKH sent a report to the Education Ministry this month with suggestions to make assessment practices uniform across all school boards.
Weightage
The report recommends that the Class 12 final report card should include the performance of Classes 9, 10 and 11, including
- 15% for class 9
- 20% for class 10
- 25% for class 11
- 40% for class 12
The report also suggests that Class 9 marks should be 70 per cent formative and 30 per cent summative. In Class 10, it should be 50 per cent formative and 50 per cent summative. For Class 11, the division should be 40 per cent formative and 60 per cent summative. In Class 12, the weightage should be 30 per cent formative and 70 per cent summative.
Will be shared with the school board
Quoting sources, the report said that the PARAKH report will be shared with all school boards for feedback. It said that the first round of discussions were held last week with officials from Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
What did the states say?
During the meeting, states suggested an option to include class-wise performance. They suggested that instead of including the results of class 9, 10 and 11 in the final report card of class 12, the final score of class 10 should be based on 40 percent of class 9 and 60 percent of class 10. Similarly, the final score of class 12 should be based on 40 percent of class 11 and 60 percent of class 12.
