National News : Today is the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal Bihari Vajpayee breathed his last on 16 August 2018 at the age of 94. President Draupadi Murmu paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary by visiting his memorial 'Sadaiv Atal'. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary by visiting his memorial 'Sadaiv Atal'. 

PM Modi paid tribute.

Along with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the 'Sadbhav Atal' memorial to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. PM Modi laid flowers at the samadhi site of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and paid homage. 

JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh and Om Birla paid tribute.

During this time, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and party president and Union Minister JP Nadda were also present with PM Modi. Rajnath Singh and JP Nadda also paid tribute by laying flowers at the samadhi sthal of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He was Prime Minister three times

Let us tell you that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister thrice. He first became the Prime Minister in 1996 for a period of 13 days. Then he became PM for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999. After this, he held the post of Prime Minister for a full term from 1999 to 2004.

Bharat Ratna awarded in 2015

The Narendra Modi government announced in 2014 that Vajpayee's birthday, 25 December, would be celebrated as Good Governance Day. In 2015, he was awarded India's highest civilian honour - the Bharat Ratna - by the then President of India Pranab Mukherjee. He died on 16 August 2018 due to prolonged illness.
