National: Kapil Sibal has been embroiled in controversy over the Supreme Court Bar Association issuing a resolution on the Kolkata rape murder case. Opening a front against Kapil Sibal, former Bar Association President Adish C Agarwal has said that either Sibal should withdraw the resolution or publicly apologize to every member.

At the same time, Adish Agrawal warned that if this is not done, a no-confidence motion can also be brought against Kapil Sibal. According to the report of news agency ANI, in a letter to the current President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Kapil Sibal, Adish C. Agrawal expressed serious concern over a motion related to the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The proposal was termed unauthorized

In the letter, Agrawal has criticised Sibal for issuing the alleged SCBA resolution, describing the Kolkata incident as a "symptomatic malaise" and suggesting that such incidents are common. Agrawal says the resolution was unauthorised and issued unilaterally without the consent of the executive committee.

Demand for public apology within 72 hours

He accused Sibal of using his position to downplay the seriousness of the incident and of conflict of interest by representing the West Bengal government in related matters by making such statements. The letter demanded that Sibal withdraw the proposal and tender a public apology within 72 hours. If this is not done, a no-confidence motion can be brought against Sibal.
