National: Senior IPS officer B. Srinivasan was on Tuesday appointed as the Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG). Srinivasan is a 1992 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Bihar cadre.

According to the order of the Personnel Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Srinivasan as Director General of NSG. His appointment will be from the date of assuming charge till 31 August 2027 i.e. till the date of his retirement.

Srinivasan is currently the director of Bihar Police Academy, Rajgir. The post of NSG Director General was vacant since Nalin Prabhat was appointed as the new chief of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Nalin Prabhat was appointed NSG chief in April this year for a tenure till August 31, 2028 (his retirement date).

However, the Centre appointed him as the chief of Jammu and Kashmir Police on August 15. Prabhat, who joined as Special Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, will take over the reins of Jammu and Kashmir Police after the retirement of the current Director General RR Swain on September 30.
