National:  In a meeting with Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Beri in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the state government is spending over Rs 52,000 crore per year on its five guarantee scheme. "On the five guarantees, we are spending over Rs 52,000 crore per year. This is probably the largest income support initiative taken by any state government," he said.

"In line with our vision of equitable growth, we have launched a very ambitious inclusion agenda by providing direct income support to over 12 million families through direct benefit transfers. We call this agenda the 'five guarantees'," Siddaramaiah said.

Monthly cash assistance of Rs 2,000 to female head

Monthly cash assistance of Rs 2,000 to the female head of each family under Griha Lakshmi, which will benefit 12 million women through direct bank transfer. Free domestic electricity up to 200 units for 14 million households under Griha Jyoti, provision of 10 kg grain per person per month under Anna Bhagya, as well as an alternative cash transfer of Rs 170 per person due to shortage of grain. This will benefit more than 12 million families.

Free bus travel for all women residents

Under Shakti, all women residents can travel by bus for free. More than 280 crore journeys have been made so far under this scheme. Besides, Yuva Nidhi includes a monthly stipend of ₹3,000 for graduates and ₹1,500 for diploma holders for two years or till they get employment. This programme has provided assistance to 1.31 lakh youths.
