National: Security forces are continuously engaged in operations with full bravery in the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh. In this sequence, 13 Naxalites have been arrested from two places in Bijapur district. Police gave this information on Tuesday (3 August).

A police officer said that seven of them were arrested from Gangalur police station area on Sunday (September 1), while six others were arrested from Tarrem police station area on Monday (September 2). Many illegal items have also been recovered from the Naxalites. 

These teams were involved in the successful operation.
Regarding the action taken against the Naxalites, the police said that joint teams of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and the 202nd Battalion of Cobra (a special unit of the CRPF, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) were involved in both the operations.

Giving more details about the illegal items recovered from the Naxalites,
the police said that all the arrested Naxalites are men and their age is between 20 to 55 years. They said that detonators, electric wires, iron nails, bows, arrows and batteries were recovered from the Naxalites arrested from Tarrem, while Maoist pamphlets and propaganda material were seized from other Naxalites.

With these arrests, more than 600 Naxalites have been arrested so far this year in the Bastar division which has seven districts including Bijapur.

9 Naxalites killed on Bijapur-Dantewada border
Today, Tuesday (3 September), a fierce encounter is going on between security forces and Maoists in the border districts of Dantewada and Bijapur since morning. In this encounter, security forces have killed 9 Naxalites. The soldiers have also recovered the bodies of all the killed Naxalites. The soldiers have also recovered a large amount of weapons from the spot.
