National: A father, who was deeply shocked after the death of his young son in a road accident in Delhi, donated his son's organs and brought him back to life even after his death. He took this courageous decision after seeing his son's cooperative and gentle nature. He donated both of his son's kidneys, liver and heart and gave new life to four people, thus furthering his noble work towards humanity, which Aneesh himself used to do while he was alive.
Aneesh was just 26 years old. He used to donate his blood and help save people's lives. One day he was seriously injured in a road accident and was admitted to JPNA Trauma Center of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for treatment, where despite the best treatment, he could not be saved and on August 29, the doctors declared him brain dead.
The courageous decision to donate organs
The death of their young son brought a mountain of sorrows upon his parents. In such a situation, it was a big challenge for the doctors to explain and tell Aneesh's father Avijit Banerjee and his wife about organ donation, but when the coordinator of AIIMS's Organ Retrieval Banking Organization (ORBO) explained about organ donation and their transplant with sensitivity, Aneesh's father agreed to donate the organs.
Anees's father was inspired by the words of the coordinator of the Organ Retrieval Banking Organization and his son's nature of donating blood and saving lives. After that, he took the bold decision of donating Anees's organs, realizing this initiative of giving life to people who are on the verge of death due to serious diseases.
'This thought of Aneesh inspired me to do this'
Paying tribute to his son, Anish's father Avijit Banerjee said that his son was very helpful. He often helped people in other ways besides donating blood. The same helpful nature of his son inspired him to donate his organs.
On this courageous step of Anish's parents, Organ Retrieval Banking Organization Incharge Prof. Aarti Vij expressed her gratitude for their courage and compassion in donating the organs. She also said that these organs of Anish will give life to four other people who are suffering from life threatening diseases. This step is also an inspiration for others.
These hospitals got organs
After the consent of Anish's parents, both his kidneys, liver and heart were safely removed from his brain dead body and were allocated to different hospitals by National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTO). Anish's heart and one kidney were given to AIIMS hospital, while the liver was given to Army Hospital Research and Referral and the other kidney was given to Safdarjung Hospital.
