National: The counting date for the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana assembly elections has been changed from October 4 to October 8, 2024 by the Election Commission of India. Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has reacted to this.

CM Nayab Saini said, "Our (BJP) state president Mohan Lal Baroli wrote a letter to the Election Commission informing them about the problem that there are continuous holidays in Haryana (between the dates of elections) due to which the vote percentage may decrease. Along with us, other parties also expressed concern over this, the Bishnoi community also expressed concern over this."

CM Saini further said, “I want to thank the Election Commission for understanding this. If there is more voting, it will benefit the state and the country as well. I welcome the decision of the Election Commission that they have taken this decision understanding the sentiments of the common people.”

'10 to 20 people could have been deprived of their vote'
The Election Commission in Haryana has changed the date of voting from October 1 to October 5, to which INLD leader and MLA Abhay Singh Chautala has also reacted. He said, "I thank the Election Commission because it was a long holiday. Many people could have gone out during this time, due to which 10 to 20 percent of voters could have been deprived of voting."

Congress leader Deepak Babaria has also reacted to the change in voting date , accusing BJP of rigging
. He said, "This entire episode reflects the immaturity of the BJP government, its Chief Minister and its state president. They have put the people of the entire state on an uncertain time table. In the end, the nomination date remains the same. According to me, the BJP rigs every election. Maybe they (BJP) don't have enough time to rig, so the date has been extended."
