National: Former Jharkhand minister Saryu Roy's troubles may increase. Ranchi police has filed an FIR against him in a corruption case. Police have filed an FIR against former Food and Public Supply Minister Saryu Roy, his then private secretary Anand and three others for alleged corruption in the publication of Aahaar magazine during his tenure as minister.

Saryu Rai is accused of embezzling more than Rs 3 crore 38 lakh. Ranchi resident Manoj Singh has alleged that Saryu Rai is involved in irregularities worth Rs 3,38,26,473. Police have registered an FIR on his complaint. This case has been registered in Argora police station of Ranchi. Saryu Rai is an MLA from Jamshedpur East.

Before the assembly elections in Jharkhand, Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai seems to be in trouble. Earlier also an FIR was lodged against Saryu Rai in Doranda police station of Ranchi. The MP MLA court had already taken cognizance of this matter. The special court of MP-MLA had issued a notice to Saryu Rai.

Former minister of Jharkhand government and independent MLA from Jamshedpur East seat Saryu Rai had recently joined Janata Dal United. JDU's national working president and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha had given him party membership in Patna. Saryu Rai was running a party called Bharatiya Jan Morcha.

Assembly elections are to be held in Jharkhand this year. In such a situation, the FIR lodged against him is being considered an important development in the state politics. Saryu Rai, who emerged from the 'Pathshala' of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was among the top leaders of the BJP in Jharkhand-Bihar till before the Jharkhand assembly elections in 2019. He was also a minister in the Raghuvar Das-led government in the state.
