National: An FIR has been lodged against Ajit Prasad, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP from Faizabad (Ayodhya), Uttar Pradesh, on charges of kidnapping, threatening and assault. Police gave this information on Sunday. The SP MP termed the allegations as politically motivated and said that his son is the party candidate for the by-election to be held on the Milkipur assembly seat.

Reacting to the case filed against his son, SP MP Awadhesh Prasad said that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated. He said, "Akhilesh Yadav (SP President) has made my son a candidate for the Milkipur assembly by-election and SP is winning this seat, due to which BJP is restless." Prasad claimed that a fake case has been filed against his son. He accused the BJP of conspiring to suppress the movement against police atrocities in Raunahi police station area. A person named Dukhhi Ram had died in the movement.

According to police, an FIR was lodged by a person named Ravi Tiwari at Kotwali city police station here on Saturday. Police said the alleged incident took place near State Bank main branch crossing in Faizabad city on Saturday afternoon following a dispute over commission in a land purchase. Police sources said the case has been registered under sections 140 (3) (kidnapping), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 191 (3) (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 351 (3) (threatening to kill) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS).

Awadhesh Prasad is involved in property dealing

He said the incident allegedly took place near the intersection of the main branch of State Bank of India in Faizabad city on Saturday afternoon after a dispute over commission in a land purchase case. The case alleged that Ajit Prasad and five-six others attacked, threatened and kidnapped Tiwari. Ajit Prasad is involved in the 'property dealing' business.

Ajit likely to contest by-election from Milkipur seat

Ajit Prasad is likely to contest the by-election from Milkipur seat as a Samajwadi Party candidate in the by-election caused by the election of Awadhesh Prasad as a Lok Sabha member and his resignation from the assembly seat. However, the SP has not officially announced its candidate for the by-election. The complainant is a resident of Palia Risali village in Purakalandar police station area of ​​Ayodhya. City Kotwali in-charge Ashwini Pandey said that the allegations have been found to be true in the preliminary investigation and a detailed investigation is being conducted into the matter.
