National News: A train accident occurred late Friday night in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. 20 coaches of Sabarmati Express derailed in the block section between Kanpur and Bhimsen station. No one is seriously injured in the Ahmedabad Sabarmati Express accident. According to initial information, the driver says a boulder has hit the engine. Due to this, the cattle guard of the engine has been badly damaged. As soon as the information about the accident was received, railway officials reached the spot late at night. 

The accident happened around 3 am

Railway officials who reached the spot said that several coaches of the train derailed on the holding line ahead of Govind Puri near Kanpur. This train was going from Varanasi to Ahmedabad. The accident happened around 3 o'clock late night. Currently, all the passengers of Sabarmati Express train have been brought to Kanpur by bus from the accident spot.

According to the information received so far, no passenger has been injured in this accident. Rescue and relief teams have reached the spot. In view of the train accident, the Railways has issued helpline numbers.

Railway Minister's statement

Regarding the train accident in Kanpur, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on social media platform X that the engine of Sabarmati Express (Varanasi to Ahmedabad) derailed after hitting an object on the track near Kanpur at 02:35 am late night. Signs of strong shock have been seen in the train. IB and UP Police are working on it. There are no injuries to the passengers or railway employees on the train. Train has been arranged for the passengers for further travel to Ahmedabad.
