Afghanistan's cricket team has performed very well on the international stage in the last few years. In the T20 World Cup played last year, their team qualified till the semi-finals. It would be a big mistake for any other team to consider their team weak in white ball cricket now. Amidst all this, Afghanistan has slowly started strengthening its hold in red ball i.e. Test cricket as well. Afghanistan's team recently visited Zimbabwe. Where T20, ODI and Test series were played. After the T20 and ODI series, Afghanistan also won the Test series. Due to the victory in this Test series, their team has made two big records in its name.
Afghanistan made this record
Afghanistan drew the first test match against Zimbabwe, but after that match their team made some changes in their plan and won the second test match by 72 runs. With this win, their team won the series by 1-0. This was Afghanistan's 11th test match. They have won 4 out of 11 test matches. Which is the second most wins by any team in the first 11 test matches. Australia's team is at the top of this list. They won six out of the first 11 test matches.
First Asian team to do so
Afghanistan has also made a record during this series with which they have defeated all the Asian teams. Actually, Afghanistan's team had played all the test series or matches in Asia till now. This was the first time when their team played a test series outside Asia. They won in their very first attempt. With this, Afghanistan also became the first Asian team to win the first test series outside Asia. Even big teams like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka had not achieved this milestone in test cricket.
