The Indian team had to face a 3-1 defeat in the 5-match Test series on the tour of Australia, after which news was constantly coming out about the form and indiscipline of many players. After reviewing the poor performance of the team on this tour, the BCCI has now taken a strict decision and implemented 10 new rules. While it has been made mandatory for all players to play domestic cricket, no player will be able to take his personal staff with him on foreign tours. The BCCI has also made it clear about these new rules that if any player does not follow these instructions, he will have to face disciplinary action. This includes a reduction in the fees of their central contract and a ban on playing in the IPL.
BCCI implemented these 10 new rules regarding players (Indian men's team)
Now wife or family will be allowed to stay for only 2 weeks on foreign tours
On the foreign tours of the Indian team, the family or wife of the players will be allowed to stay with the team for only 2 weeks. Apart from this, there will be no permission to take personal staff along. This rule will apply to all the people including the coach and support staff along with the players. Apart from this, no player will be allowed to travel separately with his family during the tours. He will go from the hotel to the stadium with the team on the day of the match along with the practice session. If any player wants exemption from this, then he will have to take approval from the chairman of the selection committee and the head coach.
It is mandatory for all players to play in home matches
According to the new guidelines of BCCI, it will be mandatory for the players to participate in domestic matches to get selected in the national team and remain in the central contract. This will help all the players maintain their match fitness and also strengthen their game. Apart from this, young players will also get a chance to learn a lot from them. Exemption from this rule will be given only for some special reasons, for which approval will have to be taken from the head coach and the chairman of the selection committee.
All players will have to attend the practice session
Now in the practice session, all the players will have to stay for the entire duration of the prescribed practice session. Under this rule, now no player can leave the field after completing his practice.
There will be no exemption for carrying extra luggage
Now all the players will not be allowed to carry extra luggage during foreign tours and series in the country, in which they will have to follow the limit set by BCCI. If any player carries extra luggage, then he will have to bear the expenses himself.
Restrictions on taking personal staff
There were reports about some players of Team India taking their personal staff with them. BCCI has now put a complete ban on this as well. They have completely banned personal managers, chefs, assistants and personal security personnel from taking along with them.
Players will have to inform the team management before sending anything to the Center of Excellence
Players will now have to send separate bags or inform the team management before sending any equipment and personal items to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Any additional costs incurred due to different arrangements will be the responsibility of the player.
Players will not be able to shoot advertisements during the series
Now no player of the Indian team will be able to shoot an advertisement during any series. BCCI has made it clear about this with its new rule. This rule has been implemented so that the players focus only on that series or tour.
Travel Plan Policy with Family
A travel plan policy has been implemented for players with their families, ensuring a balance between player and team commitments.
It is mandatory to attend official events of BCCI
It will now be mandatory for all players to participate in official shoots and events of the BCCI. This participation is essential to maintain BCCI's commitments to stakeholders and to promote the sport effectively.
Players will be allowed to return home only after the series is over
Now under the new rules, no player will be allowed to return home early after the end of any match or series; they will have to return after the tour is over, even if the match ends before the scheduled time.
