Reuters Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's troubles are increasing. Already, about one-third of the MPs of his own ruling Liberal Party are demanding a change of leadership. Now his ally party has also distanced itself from him. New Democratic Party (NDP) chief Jagmeet Singh said on Friday that he would bring a no-confidence motion against the government next year.

Trudeau will lose power and an election will be held

The NDP has 25 members in the lower house of Parliament. The Liberal Party has 153 members in the 338-member House. Jagmeet's party has supported the minority Liberal Party in several recent confidence tests in the House. Jagmeet Singh has announced this in an open letter. He said that if all opposition parties vote against the minority Liberal government, Trudeau will lose power and elections will be held.

The lower house of Parliament, the House of Commons, is currently on winter break and its session will begin on January 27. A no-confidence motion cannot be presented before that. Meanwhile, Trudeau has made changes in his cabinet. He has inducted eight new ministers and changed the work of four.

The number of MPs has increased to around 60

Let us tell you that recently Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned. After this, the demand for Trudeau's resignation has started increasing. Out of 153 members of the ruling party in the House of Commons, the number of MPs demanding his resignation has increased to about 60.

Canada did not provide any evidence regarding the allegations

The central government told the Lok Sabha on Friday that Canada has not provided any evidence to support its serious allegations. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said in a written reply, “Such narratives can be harmful to the bilateral relationship. The government is aware of the allegations against Indian citizens in the US and Canada.”

As part of ongoing cooperation with the US, certain information shared by the US side relating to nexus between criminals, terrorists and others which also impact India's national security interests is being investigated at a high level. As far as Canada is concerned, it has not provided any evidence to support the allegations.
