Bollywood's famous on-screen mother and late actress Nirupa Roy was born on January 4, 1931 in Valsad, Gujarat. Today is her 93rd birth anniversary. She has appeared in many films and became famous as the on-screen mother of many heroes including superstar Amitabh Bachchan, due to which she was called 'mother of Bollywood'. Nirupa Roy, who was famous for playing the role of 'mother' in films, started her film career with Gujarati films. In her five decade long career, she acted in about 300 films. Before coming into films, Nirupa's real name was Kanta Chauhan.
