SA20 2025: Before the Champions Trophy, South Africa's dashing fast bowler has created history. South Africa announced its team for the Champions Trophy on 13 January. A day after this, the South African fast bowler did what was never seen in the SA20 League before today. In the SA20 League being played in South Africa, the sixth match was played between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals on 13 January. Batting first in this match, MI Cape Town scored 172 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. For MI, Reeza Hendricks scored a brilliant 59 runs with the help of 8 fours and 1 six in 37 balls. At the same time, Van der Dussen played an innings of 43 runs in 33 balls. Dayan Gullim took the maximum 3 wickets for Paarl Royals.

MI gave a target of 173 runs

Chasing MI Cape Town's 172 runs, Paarl Royals' opening pair started in a blazing style. 38 runs were put on the scoreboard in the first 3 overs. What happened after that became history. In the fourth over, Kagiso Rabada came to start his bowling and on the very first ball of his first over, he sent Paarl Royals' opening batsman Joe Root back to the pavilion. Root returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs off 14 balls. After Root returned to the pavilion, Sam Hain came to the crease as the new batsman but could not score a single run on the next 5 balls. In this way, this over of Rabada proved to be a wicket maiden. After this, Rashid Khan came to bowl his first over in the 5th over but conceded 15 runs.

Rabada created new history

After Rashid Khan's expensive over, the ball was once again in Rabada's hands. This time too, Rabada repeated the feat of his first over and started his second over with a wicket. This time Rabada hunted opener Luwan-Dre Pretorius. Pretorius was dismissed after scoring 26 runs off 12 balls. After taking a wicket on the first ball, Rabada did not give a single run on the next 5 balls and once again created a new history by bowling a maiden over for the second consecutive wicket. Rabada bowled 2 consecutive maiden overs in the powerplay and thus became the first bowler in the world to bowl 2 consecutive maiden overs in the powerplay in the history of the SA20 League. Before this, no bowler had done this feat in this league.

Rabada entered the special club

Not only this, Rabada has now made a big leap in the list of bowlers who have bowled the most maiden overs in T20 cricket. With the help of 2 consecutive maiden overs, he left behind 16 bowlers at once and now he has joined the club of bowlers who have bowled 10 or more maiden overs in T20 cricket. Rabada left behind legendary bowlers like R Ashwin (9 maidens) and Yuzvendra Chahal (9 maidens). Due to this brilliant bowling of Rabada, MI stopped Paarl Royals at a score of 139/9 runs in 20 overs. In this way MI won the match by 33 runs. Rabada and Rashid took 2-2 wickets each while Jordy Linde took 3 wickets.
