Kiev. North Korean soldiers are fighting against Ukraine on behalf of Russia. Meanwhile, there is news of North Korean soldiers being killed in Russia's Kursk region. US officials have given information related to this.According to the information received, this is the first time that casualties of North Korean soldiers have been reported. In October, it was reported that North Korea had sent 10,000 soldiers to strengthen the Russian army. Ukraine's military intelligence agency (GUR) also said that at least 30 North Korean soldiers were killed or injured during the fighting over the weekend.
On Wednesday itself, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video claiming that a Russian soldier is setting fire to the body of a North Korean soldier killed in the fight against Ukraine. Let us tell you that about 200 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured in the Kursk border area.
It is worth noting that the war between Ukraine and Russia has been going on for almost three years. However, no solution to this seems to be emerging yet. On the contrary, to defeat the Ukrainian soldiers, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has sent his soldiers to the war to support Putin. North Korean soldiers are supporting Russian soldiers in the Ukraine war.
"We estimate that the DPRK suffered casualties of several hundred people," the official said, using an abbreviation for North Korea's official name and speaking on condition of anonymity.
The official said this would include everything from minor injuries to KIA (killed in action), adding the casualties include soldiers from "all ranks".
"These soldiers are not experienced in this war. They have never been involved in a war before," the official said. He added that this is probably the reason they are suffering so much loss at the hands of the Ukrainians.
The official's comments about the casualties came after Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksandr Sirsky said Russia had used North Korean troops at the center of an "intensive offensive" in Kursk for several days.North Korea and Russia have strengthened their military ties since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. A landmark defense agreement signed between Pyongyang and Moscow in June came into force earlier this month.
