SA20: South Africa's T20 league i.e. SA20 has started from January 9. On the first day, MI Cape Town defeated defending champion Sunrisers Eastern Cape. After this, the next day i.e. on January 10, the second match of the tournament was played between Durban Super Giants and Pretoria Capitals in which tremendous thrill was seen. This match went till the last ball of the last over but in the end Durban Super Giants managed to win the match by 2 runs. After winning the toss, batting first, Durban Super Giants scored a huge score of 209 runs by losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. For Durban Super Giants, Kane Williamson scored the highest 60 runs while Bryce Parsons scored 47 runs. Apart from this, Wiaan Mulder contributed 45 runs. Senuran Muthusamy took the highest 3 wickets from Pretoria Capitals.
In reply to Durban Super Giants' score of 209 runs, Pretoria Capitals had a great start. The opening pair of Will Jacks and Rehmanullah Gurbaz started the innings in a great way. Both of them scored half-centuries and shared a 154-run partnership for the first wicket. Pretoria suffered its first blow in the form of Gurbaz in the 13th over. Gurbaz missed his century by just 11 runs. The opening batsman played an innings of 89 runs in 43 balls with the help of 3 fours and 7 sixes.
A flurry of wickets in the death overs
After Gurbaz, there was a flurry of wickets. Riley Russo and Will Jacks also kept going by the 15th over. Russo could score just 1 run while Will Jacks played an innings of 64 runs. By the end of the 15th over, the team put 177 runs on the scoreboard after losing 3 wickets. Pretoria needed 33 runs in the last 5 overs and the team's victory seemed easy but something happened in the last over that turned the whole match upside down.
Due to Durban's tight bowling, Pretoria struggled to score runs in the death overs. During this time, wickets kept falling. By 19 overs, the team had put 196 runs on the scoreboard after losing 6 wickets and now 14 runs were needed to win in the last over.
