World champions Australia announced their 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 on 13 January. Pat Cummins was made the captain of this team. Australia, which last won the Champions Trophy in 2009, has included all-rounders like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Aaron Hardy in their team. At the same time, Nathan Ellis has been given a chance as a fast bowler. If this team is compared to the 2023 World Cup, there are only 3 changes. David Warner, Cameron Green and Sean Abbott are not in this team. In their place, Matthew Short, Aaron Hardy and Nathan Ellis have been given a place in the team.

Australia may have announced its team for the Champions Trophy, but there is still doubt about the captain. Actually, Pat Cummins is currently on a break and will not be a part of the 2-match Test series to be played on the Sri Lanka tour. Pat Cummins is going to become a father for the second time and there is also doubt about his fitness. In such a situation, his playing in the Champions Trophy has not been decided yet. Nothing is clear about Cummins

Australia's chief selector George Bailey said when the team was announced that this is a balanced and experienced team, most of whose players have played the last ODI World Cup, the series against West Indies and the home series against Pakistan. However, Bailey made such a statement about Pat Cummins' fitness and his availability that there is a danger of the Australian team's campaign getting derailed even before the tournament. Bailey admitted that he does not know whether Pat Cummins will be available for the upcoming Champions Trophy or not. Recently Cummins had his ankle examined, at present his fitness status is not clear. If Cummins does not play, then T20 captain and dashing all-rounder Mitchell Marsh can captain the Champions Trophy.
