Sports: Pakistan's slump on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table continues after their loss in the Multan Test to England by an innings and 47 runs. The Shan Masood-led side has also been knocked out of the race to the ICC World Test Championship finals.
Fighting for a draw on the fifth and final day of the Multan Test, Pakistan needed Aamer Jamal and Salman Ali Agha to showcase a herculean effort. While the dynamic fought really hard, the task was nearly impossible to pull off.
Salman and Jamal added 109 runs for the seventh wicket and frustrated the English bowlers initially on day five. Left-arm orthodox bowler Jack Leach put an end to the frustration as he trapped Salman in front of his stumps at an individual score of 63. Salman missed the ball completely and was adjudged out on the field.
The Pakistan allrounder challenged the decision and reviewed it straightaway, only to meet disappointment. Ball tracking ruled the decision in favour of Leach and the third umpire upheld the on-field call.
Leach didn't stop there and bagged two more wickets in the form of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah to help England register a memorable win and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
