Sports: There is going to be a mega auction this year for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Before this auction, all eyes are on whether Mumbai Indians will retain Rohit Sharma or not.

If Mumbai does not retain Rohit, then many teams can go after him. Punjab Kings can also be one of those teams. The team's Head of Cricket Development Sanjay Bangar has said that if Rohit comes in the auction, he can fetch a lot of money.

A lot depends on the retention rule

Sanjay Bangar has said that a lot depends on the retention rule which will be decided before the mega auction. However, he has said that if Rohit comes in the IPL auction then a lot of money can rain on him."We have to wait and watch. I have played with Rohit in Deccan Chargers but after that he moved to Mumbai. Yes, there have been a lot of changes in Mumbai but a lot depends on the retention rule because this is an issue which is being considered. Once there is clarity on the retention rule, we will know how many players can be retained," Bangar said on the Rao podcast.

will Punjab buy Rohit

Punjab has been the team that has not won the IPL title even once. Till now Shikhar Dhawan was captaining the team. But if Rohit comes to Punjab then he will definitely captain the team. On buying Rohit, Bangar said, "It depends on how much money we have. Because if Rohit enters the auction then his price will definitely be high."

Mumbai won the IPL five times under Rohit's captaincy, but last year the team management took a surprising decision and handed over the command of the team to Hardik Pandya who came from Gujarat Titans. After this, the Mumbai team was divided into two factions. That is why there are reports that Mumbai may not retain Rohit this time.
