The superstar recently spoke openly about his decision to quit films while talking on actress Rhea Chakraborty's podcast 'Chapter 2'. The actor also revealed what was the reaction of his ex-wife Kiran Rao and children on hearing his decision. Aamir Khan wanted to focus on his children and family time with Kiran and that is why he decided to quit Bollywood. But, his family was completely shocked by his decision.

When Aamir Khan told his family about his decision to quit the film

Aamir told that when he talked to Kiran and children about this, they tried to explain to him that he cannot leave the film like this. Not only this, his ex-wife Kiran Rao even had tears in her eyes after hearing this decision of the actor.

What did the family say on Aamir's decision?

The actor says- 'When I told him about my decision to quit films a few years ago, according to me his reaction was- Papa how can you leave films? You have been doing films for the last 30 years. You must be emotional now and that is why you are saying this. You will not be able to do this. He shook his head and left.' Aamir tells that Kiran also became very emotional after hearing his decision. He says - 'She started crying and said- 'You are made for cinema only. If you are leaving cinema then it means that you are leaving us too, because we are also a part of this world.'

Kiran Rao started crying after hearing Aamir's decision

Aamir says- 'Kiran started crying, I said this will not happen. You people are misunderstanding. I want to spend time with the family, but she was right. I realized later that Kiran was right.' Along with this, he also talked about his mental breakdown. Aamir said- 'I had a mental breakdown after this incident. I became depressed, there was a lot of pain. When I realized that I was not with Ayra from the time she was 3 to 12 years old. I was not completely absent, I used to spend time with her like a working father, but I was not mentally present with her.'
