Sushmita Sen spoke openly on this issue in an interview given to Bombay Times in the year 2023. Sushmita's role in this film was very small but impressive. Sushmita was also scared due to the small role. When Farhan saw the final edit, he called Sushmita and apologized to her.

Sushmita says, 'Farah Khan called me and said, 'Sush (Sushmita) I have seen the final edit and I have to apologize to you. Shahrukh, Zayed and Amrita have roles, but you are hardly seen there.' I told her, 'It's okay Farah. We had a deal. You kept your promise and I kept mine. Now it's done. Don't worry about it.'

Further Sushmita Sen told how the posters of the film were changed overnight and she too got a place in the posters despite having a very small role. During the screening of the film Yash Chopra called Sushmita Sen and praised her a lot. 

Sushmita further said, 'The reaction I got made me feel that something has changed. The role was small but powerful. The audience's reaction was so good that earlier all over Bombay, the posters of 'Main Hoon Na' had Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao and Shahrukh or Shahrukh alone, but after its release, Shahrukh and I were on every poster.'
